The development of new materials and fabrication techniques can substantially change the ways in which architects think about issues of standardization and mass production. The focus of the PIVMapping Fabrication is to research and explore traditional and emerging fabrication techniques and building materials with their inherent possibilities and limitations. In the course, students will create a pseudo-database of existing and potential fabrication resources. Through re-combination, students are asked to formulate speculative architectural applications for new materials and processes. Focus (in accordance with the studio City Lab – City maker) is on the area around airport Tempelhof and the 60 sites in Berlin designated for modular building.
